OVA Seeks Head and Assistant Coaches for 18U Indoor Provincial Team PDF Print E-mail

Ontario Volleyball is now accepting applications for Head and Assistant coaching positions within the 2012 18U Ontario Indoor Provincial Team.

Team Ontario Training Program Description
Female -Two (2) teams of athletes born in 1994 or later will be identified mainly through the High Performance Centre (HPC) which will be held at Humber College from July 2-7.  The selected athletes will train at a location to be determined from July 10-16 before attending the National Team Training Centre (NTCC) from July 17-22 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Male -Two (2) teams of athletes born in 1994 or later will be identified mainly through the High Performance Centre (HPC) which will be held at Humber College from July 2-7.  The selected athletes will train at a location to be determined from July 10-16 before attending the National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC) from July 17-22 in Gatineau, Quebec.

National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC) Program Description
Athletes from all over Canada will participate in a two (2) day training camp headlined by National Team coaches starting on July 17. The camp will include position specific training, team training, sport science presentations. The NTCC tournament will begin on July 19 and end on July 22 and will include teams representing other provinces from all over Canada.

Provincial Team Coach Roles and Responsibilities:
All Provincial Team coaches will work together on the planning and delivery of the training and competition program.
•    Assist in athlete selection for the HPC at HPC Open Tryout
•    Help plan training sessions at HPC
•    Assist in athlete selection at HPC
•    Help create a training plan leading up to the NTTC
•    Perform administrative duties as needed
•    Coaching on-site during pre-NTTC training camp
•    Serve as a coach at the NTTC training camp and competition
•    Complete debriefs with coaches, athletes and OVA following NTTC
•    Complete a written athlete evaluation using the OVA grading template  

Necessary Requirements
•    Registered member in good standing with the OVA
•    Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening & Police Screening Check

Desired Requirements
•    NCCP Level 2 full certification
